Pizzitola's 2nd Try

I decided to give Pizzitola's a second try, this time, spareribs.  Spareribs I thought were very tasty, taste better w/o the sauce in my opinion.  Sauce is nothing special.  Coleslaw had a bit too much mayonaise and the potato salad was decent.  That's all I have.

Pizzitola’s Spareribs

So if you're hip like me ;) you've probably never been to Pizzitola's Spareribs and most certaintly you probably think the joints name is Spareribs, like I did.  Being the encouraging boyfriend that he is, David brings it to my attention that I know nothing.  I'm not denying it, when it comes to BBQ all I know is Rudy's is delish.  But really, when it comes to BBQ, if I never ate BBQ again, I wouldn't even blink an eye.

So this joint apprently has been here for over 20 years.  That's news to me.  The chicken was actually pretty tender, but as you can see, it's just over iceberg lettuce, nothing special.  All I know is Rudy's BBQ is yum, Pizzitola's, it's ok, but it sure was packed in this place.

Tulips

Tulips are so neat, they go from limpness to vibrant standing with some water and plant food.  How symbolic to life.

Oporto

Finally tried Oporto, on Richmond near Weslayan, next to Berripop and Collinas.  I've been hearing so many good things about it.  It's mostly tapas and a huge selection of wine.  I had the Rustica Pizza.  It was soooo good!  Definitely better than Dolce Vita Pizzeria!  Evening vibe is really cool, ecclectic and cozy.  Crowd is older, varying from two people to small groups.  I'd definitely go back, I liked it alot.

My First Ride in an Astin Martin

Oscar is one of my favorite GK peeps.  Super fun, friendly and studly.  He and his partner have this 4 million dollar palatial mansion off of Buckingham behind First Baptist, supposedly one of the weathliest neighborhoods in Houston, period.  I've never been in or ridden in an astin martin, I can officially say, I've been devirginized.  People that buy $255K plus cars are just another breed of people.  He customized the interior with this burnt orange and bamboo wood, it's just crazy how much ppl will or can spend on a car.  Must be nice.  If nothing else, it was sure fun to ride and stared at.

Laurenzo’s on Washington

Laureno's is a "grill", not an upscale "sports bar".  Staff are super friendly, spacious inside, plasmas, booths, etc.  Burger was good, french fries were seasoned and a bit on the soggy side, which I happen to like, occasionally.  The building is a bit weird.  There's no front door off of Washington, but you have to park in the back and the entrace is in the back with this understated entrance...I'm being sarcastic in case you couldn't tell from my text tone.  It's all right, not somewhere I'd pick out, personally.

Sam’s Cafe

Sam's Cafe is off Studemont and Washington in the shopping center behind Walgreens, next to Absolve Wine Bar and Terlingua Mexican Grill & Margarita bar.  I suppose most ppl still don't have a clue where this is, I know I've never gone into this shopping center up until a couple weeks ago.  I met some out of town clients at this location and stopped by for a quick bite before heading over to Absolve Wine Bar one day and to my suprise it was very good.  At this point I've gone maybe 4 times in the last 2 weeks and haven't been able to move away from the current dishes of choice, Orange Chicken and Stir Fry Green Bean with Special Sauce.  One day, I'll try something new, but for now, I like what I like.  It's authentic Chinese food, but who likes that stuff anyways besides Asians.  I like the

Americanized Chinese food, a few notches above General Joe's Chopstix, it's my new favorite place!

The website shows favorite choices and they do deliveries as well.   http://houston.eat24hours.com/restaurant/sam-s-cafe/2012/index.php
